Buffalo Soldiers MC Chapter (Jackson, TN) ride to EZRA HOWARD APPRECIATION DAY (Sharon, TN)
Ezra Howard Appreciation Day Ride
SUNDAY, APRIL 10TH, 2011 More than 150 Bikes rolled north on Highway 45 to SHARON, TN. Bikes were lined up as far as the eyes can see….
Words cannot express how the communities of West and Central Tennessee came out to honor Ezra Howard. Riders came from as far south as Mississippi and as far north as Missouri and Illinois. It all started from an article about Ezra in the Jackson Sun written by Dan Morris.
As Motorcycles began to fill the Jackson, Harley Davidson parking lot to assemble for the ride, the atmosphere was filled with positive energy and emotions. As last minute coordination’s were made, members from different clubs started to mingle and new friendships were formed and new memories made.
After the prayer and the safety briefing, engines began to rumble. Sirens were blasting from the Police escort. The honorary ride was led by two American Flags and National Association of Buffalo Soldiers & Troopers Motorcycle Clubs (NABSTMC) from Jackson, TN, Memphis, Clarksville, Nashville, Little Egypt, IL, Southwest, IL, Mississippi, and St. Louis, MO., Patriot Guard Riders, Rolling Thunder, Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA), Sons of Confederate Veterans Mechanized Cavalry, Silent Service Motorcycle club, Unknown Riders, and Blue Knights, along with all the Individual riders and Veterans. Special thanks all, know that we are thankful for your support.
Thanks to the support of local Law enforcement officers from Madison, Gibson and Weakly Counties to include Jackson, Medina, Milan, Greenfield, and Sharon Police departments. They pulled off one amazing escort service ensuring the safety of over 150 motorcycles.
Mr. Ezra Howard (PFC Ezra Howard, WWII Veteran, 365th Infantry Regiment, 92nd Infantry Division), whom served as a member of “The All Famous Buffalo Soldiers” stood proudly as the riders paraded around the city honoring his service. On behalf of the NABSTMC, Mr. Ezra Howard was presented with a Shadow Box displaying medals he earned during his military career and a Pillow with a Buffalo design. As he was presented with the Shadow Box Mr. Ezra Howard stated, “I earned every one of them too”.
The Buffalo Soldiers stood in formation and rendered the Buffalo Soldiers Salute. After the Salute, Mr. Howard went inside the Library and a line formed to thank this famous “Buffalo Soldier” for his service. Everyone interacted with him and shook his hand.
Special thanks for the invitation and Hospitality from Ezra Howard and family, the Sharon Mayor, the Library, and the City of Sharon for allowing the NABSTMC to be a part of and participate in honoring PFC Ezra Howard, WWII Veteran, 92nd Infantry Division. “The All Famous Buffalo Soldiers”.
